CrossFit is a training program that builds strength and conditioning through extremely varied and challenging workouts. Each day the workout will test a different part of your functional strength or conditioning, not specializing in one particular thing, but rather with the goal of building a body that’s capable of practically anything and everything.

At CrossFit South Bend we take your training very seriously, whether you are a complete beginner to CrossFit or a competitive athlete, we have a place for you within our gym walls. Our general CrossFit programming has a main emphasis on longevity and health first, then performance. It is inherently an intermediate program with scaling options that make it suitable for a beginner to thrive, or to bridge the gap to becoming an advanced CrossFit athlete to get into our Competitive Crossfit program.

The emphasis of our Fundamentals Course is skill development and exposure to our basic movements. This 12 session program is designed to prepare you to enter our ongoing group CrossFit classes. We prioritize good technique to ensure your safety and success during our group CrossFit classes.

When can you start? whenever you’d like. Just schedule a No Sweat Intro and we can get you moving.

During our Fundamentals course, the difficulty of these workouts is ultimately in your hands. The degree that you push yourself will determine how hard the workouts are. The class is called Fundamentals for a specific reason. We want to bring you up to the level of intensity and output that is inherent in our group classes. If you feel you have the requisite knowledge to enter our group CrossFit classes you are more than welcome to test out of the Fundamentals Course. Although this is a 12 session program, it is also designed as an ongoing program that beginners can stay in and thrive.

Class Times:

Tuesday 7:00pm

Thursday 7:00pm

Crossfit South Bend Nutrition is a nutrition program based on real whole food that is meant to improve the health, longevity, and weight. We believe nutrition is the foundation of health. We’ve seen people dramatically change their health, their weight, and their self-esteem just by changing what they eat.

The basis of our nutrition program is real whole food, in particular meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, healthy fats, fruits, nut & seeds, and herbs & spices. At CFSB, we don’t believe in shakes, smoothies, bars, pills, or cleanses, just real whole food. Two of our most popular programs are the Whole30 and the Whole90, where we ask people to eat only real whole food for 30 days or 90 days respectively. These programs are a great complement to our fitness programs here at CFSB.

Whether its losing weight, gaining muscle, getting toned, or competitive sports, we have an adaptation for you.

This is a strength and conditioning program designed to build bigger, stronger, more explosive athletes with more horse power. The demands of athletes are universal.  If they can run, jump, sprint, change direction, and if they are strong and powerful then they will be successful. These are the goals that we are working towards. We will get there by lifting heavy, conditioning (metabolic, sprint, jumping), and working with the mentality of “Train Fast Be Fast.”

Another key principle is building strong posture and position through the use of external loads, external forces to challenge posture and position. Why is posture and position important? Your ability to sprint, jump, change direction and tackle is all dependent on whether or not you can maintain good posture and position through full ranges of motion.

This program is different from our CFSB Crossfit in that is has a much higher emphasis on strength training with a linearly progressing program, on a set schedule. You’ll be attending every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. If you want to get bigger, stronger, faster, this is the program for you.

The Strength and Conditioning class is a premium class and requires an additional service agreement to attend. The classes run 90 minutes in duration.Check out the prices here

[/x_accordion_item][x_accordion_item title=”Olympic Weightlifting Class” open=”false”]What is CFSB Weightlifting?

This will be an Olympic Weightlifting class. The term “weightlifting”, although it is thrown around a lot in the fitness world, is exclusive to the sport of weightlifting, meaning, the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Our goal for this class will be to provide a better learning environment with longer (90 minute) classes meant specifically for the sport of weightlifting. This is a program in and of itself, not a supplementary program. It is a main training program that will be run in 4-6-8 and 12 week “blocks” of weightlifting. So, Squatting, Snatching, Cleaning, Jerking, Pulls, and all of their variations will be included in the program on a Monday, Wednesday, Saturday schedule.

The Olympic Weightlifting class is a premium class and requires an additional service agreement to attend. The classes run 90 minutes in duration.Check out the prices here

There are many reasons to get your kids involved in a Strength and Conditioning program. Our training program can be a great base for kids to carry them into other sports as well as developing discipline in life and lessons in staying fit and healthy throughout their lives.

Physical Benefits

Training is great for kids because of the wide variety of disciplines it involves, from weightlifting to calisthenics to gymnastics. Kids brains are like little sponges, itching to make neurological connections and adaptations. These connections in the brain are made in response to stimuli. The more kids can be exposed to when they are young, the more connections and capacities they develop and retain for the rest of their lives. Think of friends you have who did not play sports growing up, unless they have consciously worked at it as an adult, they are probably still somewhat uncoordinated. On the other hand, people you know who trained regularly in athletics growing up have a capacity to take on new things still as adults and display efficient and effective movement with their bodies.

Emotional Benefits

Our program is similar to sports and martial arts in how it can develop children on an emotional level. In our program we will work with kids on sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, listening skills, self-discipline and manners. These are all skills, though not physical, that will help kids become successful later in life. In addition, You’ll see a noticeable difference in the confidence level of children who have been doing Strength and Conditioning programs. As their bodies get fitter and their abilities expand, children generally become more physically active and less self-conscious in other athletic situations. You’ll also see children lose considerable amounts of weight, resulting in a major change in body image and a big boost in self-esteem. This is especially important and beneficial in the pre-teen years.

Fitness as a Lifestyle

One of the main reasons we wanted to start working with children is because we feel it is important to instill the value of fitness at an early age. It is also important to make sure kids find fitness fun – if children grow up associating working out with being something enjoyable and clearly seeing the benefits to their bodies and health, then they are more likely to keep fitness as a priority throughout their lives. Eating healthy becomes a natural and normal choice and being active becomes something they just do. Enrolling kids in an all-encompassing program like ours also shows children health and fitness is something their parents prioritize and want to educate them about.

The benefits of our program can be long lasting for children, both physically and mentally, and it is a great activity for children to get into at any age. At CrossFit South Bend, we coach kids from ages 5 to 17. At the younger ages, Our program develops their bodies across a broad range of skills. By exposing them to a variety of stimuli therefore their bodies adapt and grow both physically and neurologically. As teenagers, training is a fun and efficient way for young athletes to develop the strength and conditioning base they need to excel in their sport of choice.

A really cool thing about getting your kids into training, is when a whole family ends up working out together.  So maybe when you bring your children to check out our kids and teens program, you might check one out yourself, too. Sharing a love for fitness can be not only a time for your family to bond, but also ensures you more happy healthy years together.[/x_accordion_item][x_accordion_item title=”Open Gym Membership” open=”false”]The goals of Open Gym are as diverse as you all are, but here are some highlights of why you might choose to utilize it:

This is a strength and conditioning program designed to build bigger, stronger, more explosive athletes with more horsepower.

The demands of athletes are universal. If you can run, jump, sprint, change direction, are strong and powerful then you will be successful. These are the goals that we are working towards. We will get there by lifting heavy, conditioning (metabolic, sprint, jumping), and working with the mentality of “Train Fast Be Fast.”

Another key principle is building strong posture and position through the use of external forces, external resistance, and external elements to challenge posture and position. Why is posture and position important? Your ability as an athlete to sprint, jump, change direction, and tackle is all dependent on whether or not you can maintain good posture and position through full ranges of motion.

What does the training look like?

  1. Warm up/Dynamic movement prep: These components set the tempo for the day and ensure that you are prepared for the physiological demand ahead in the day’s training. This is also where we will identify limiting factors and build the skill to be better movers.
  2. Strength work: There are two levels of strength (1) for the beginner and (2) the advanced participant. Here we strengthen posture and position with heavy weights.
  3. Fieldwork: This could be any combination HIIT training, cardio, metcon, plyometrics, weightlifting, sprints, or strongman type movements. The volume and intensity of fieldwork is designed to prepare you for the physical and mental demands found in ALL field sports.
  4. Recovery Day: Wednesdays will focus on (1) light aerobic work to clear lactic acid from the body and speed recovery for the rest of the weeks training and (2) corrective movements to help to expose weaknesses while at the same time helping overcome them.

Concepts and standards taken from and inspired by CrossFit Football and Power Athlete HQ.

What times and days does the class meet?

The camp will meet 5 times a week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, meeting each day from 3:45pm – 5:15pm These are 90 minute training sessions.
